Windows 7 Experience Index

The Win7 Experience Index represents Microsofts method of rating computer systems and, more specific to our usage provides a storage evaluation which provides a rating up to 8 on the PC components and system as a whole.  Our system produce a HDD score of 7.9 out of 8 and, for the first time, we are going to pass on a bit of a Win7 secret that all can try.  It will give you detailed information about this score.

  • Go to Win Orb/All programs/Accessories and right click on the Command prompt;
  • Click Run as Administrator
  • In DOS, type winsat disk and hit enter.

If your disk is not the boot disk, the command then becomes ‘winsat disk -drive x (‘x’ being your specific drive)

Neat little trick eh?  Our results are as shown:

Although we find that the latency dips a bit, we are still seeing performance well above the advertised max of 415M

    I’m considering buying this ssd (512gb) for my Samsung QX410-J01. It’s the cheapest ssd out there in the market, it’s a bit hard for me to digest that this ssd can outperform couple of RAID 0 ssds. What are the possibilities this ssd can fail? Surveys shows ssds have a slightly higher rate of failure compare to hdds from well known manufacturers.

    SITE RESPONSE: SSDs dont have anywhere near the same rate of failure as hard drives and this is an excellent SSD.

      Buy it. I did the same for my little workstation dell vostro 3555 and together with 16GB ram and even lowest E2-3000M (A8-3530MX replacement ordered) it will simply fly …..
