We found that the 8GB Apricorn Aegis Secure key 3z results were slightly lower than that of the 64GB device. Normally, this is common when we compare SSD’s of vary capacities – the lower capacity models typically perform slower than the higher capacity models. Unfortunately we can’t dismantle the devices to compare internal components, this may play an insight into the performance difference.

Either way, you will be satisfied with any capacity of the Apricorn Aegis Secure key 3z. Your goal with this flash drive is not speed – look elsewhere if that’s what you need. If you need encryption and security – look no further than Apricorn and their Aegis Secure key 3z, you will be very happy with your purchase. Definitely include their Configurator USB hub with your purchase, as this will just make your life easier and it way cooler to configure your USB flash drives with this than following the keypad prompts.

The price of the 8GB flash drive is a tad bit concerning, as we have stated before – the pricing needs to be more conforming to the capacity. Again this is typical pricing standards to see the lower models cost more per GB than the higher capacity models, but this is a bit absurd – we would recommend a price around $50 mark to be more reasonable. The 64GB pricing hits the mark though, we have no complaints there. Also, $99 for the USB configurator is very fair. If you are configuring two or more USB flash drives, just buy this and save yourself the time of individually setting up each flash drive.
