4. PCMark Vantage x64 HDD Suite
The SSD Review uses benchmark software called PCMark Vantage x64 HDD Suite to create testing scenarios that might be used in the typical user experience. There are eight tests in all and the tests performed record the speed of data movement in MB/s to which they are then given a numerical score after all of the tests are complete. The simulations are as follows:
- Windows Defender In Use
- Streaming Data from storage in games such as Alan Wake which allows for massive worlds and riveting non-stop action
- Importing digital photos into Windows Photo Gallery
- Starting the Vista Operating System
- Home Video editing with Movie Maker which can be very time consuming
- Media Center which can handle video recording, time shifting and streaming from Windows media center to an extender such as XBox
- Cataloging a music library
- Starting applications
This is the test that we truly anticipated most as this is most indicative of real life performance. We have tested the top SSDs available and only recently did we also spend a full weekend experimenting with 2xCrucial C300 in RAID0, 4x Crucial C300 in RAID0 as well as the new Samsung 470 series release (256GB) in RAID0. We truly wanted to know what RAID setup of all would come out on top. Lets take a look at the Vantage results first before we show you the results of the comparison:
With 63801 points, the OCZ RevoDrive 120GB PCIe SSD has just hit are all time high PCMark Vantage score and the incredible transfer speeds show us why.
The Vantage HDD Suite final score is determined through the transfer speeds of the eight separate tests provided. As you can see, even with comparison testing of top SSDs using Intels newest drivers in ICH10RAID, the OCZ RevoDrive comes out on top in PCMark Vantage x64 testing. The score that the PCZ RevoDrive PCIe has produced is our top to date. I wonder how much better the Revo x2 would be (hint…hint).
