3D MARK STORAGE GAMING BENCHMARK
UL Solutions has created a new storage gaming benchmark that we will start to use as new SSDs come in. The 3DMark Storage Benchmark DLC extends 3DMark Advanced Edition with a dedicated component test for measuring the gaming performance of SSDs and other storage hardware. It supports all the latest storage technologies and tests practical, real-world gaming performance for activities such as loading games, saving progress, installing game files, and recording gameplay video streams.
Yet another amazing result! The The Predator GM9000 attained Top 10 in our testing of SSDs to date.
REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
We spoke of SSD perfection at the beginning of this report and that is one heck of a claim to make. In fact, while compiling this report, an industry peer contacted me and we spoke of this claim and compared the GM9000 to the Crucial T705 which is a rocket of an SSD. The T705 utilizes the same NAND and is paired with the Phison PS5026-E26 8-channel NVMe SSD controller. My thoughts came down to the controller itself. Heat. While both are industry leading controllers, I feel that the newest SMI SM2508 achieves much more being 1/2 the size at 6nm, as well as having a halved active mode wattage of 3.5W watts. It is a much cooler running SSD.
The Acer Predator GM9000 is manufactured in capacities up to 4TB, has a 5-year limited warranty and attained speeds of 14GB/s read and 13GB/s write with IOPS just under 2 million in our testing. It is single sided, very cool running and the only difficulty we have right now is that it isn’t available on Amazon, or anywhere in North America just yet. This is scheduled to change with the BIWIN world wide expansion which is occurring as we speak. Even without pricing and availability, this SSD is very deserving of our Editor’s Choice Seal.
