3D MARK STORAGE GAMING BENCHMARK
UL Solutions has created a new storage gaming benchmark that we will start to use as new SSDs come in. The 3DMark Storage Benchmark DLC extends 3DMark Advanced Edition with a dedicated component test for measuring the gaming performance of SSDs and other storage hardware. It supports all the latest storage technologies and tests practical, real-world gaming performance for activities such as loading games, saving progress, installing game files, and recording gameplay video streams.
3DMark is a fairly new tool in our toolbox and we have only tested a few other drives to date.
REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
The Kingston Fury Renegade Gen4 NVMe SSD was designed to appeal to the gaming crowd and it definitely fits the bill. It hits speeds above 7GB/s with over a million IOPS and came up with some of the best results we might have expected for a Micron 176-layer B47R premium TLC NAND SSD. Its performance was not only consistent, but also, just about the best 3DMark Storage Benchmark test we have seen to date. This SSD was just as impressive showing in No. 2 position just behind the Samsung 990 Pro in PassMark as it was placing in the top 4 in game load time testing.
Where the Renegade is particularly impressive, however, is in Kingston’s marketing approach. Finding premium SSDs at the 4TB size is still a relatively new concept but finding same in 500GB is unheard of. Add to that the fact that Kingston has introduced the Fury Renegade at an incredibly affordable price and this SSD could just become a must have for the aspiring gamer. The heatsink is low-profile for PS5 and is also very attractive. Kudo’s to Kingston for this release! Editor’s Choice!
If you’re going to keep including the Plextor M10P in the charts, how about telling us where we might buy one since its been over a year and I haven’t seen one for sale yet. If its vaporware it should be dropped from the charts instead of wasting space.
Sorry but it does/did have sales in the Asias and we get traffic worldwide. Understand the frustration in North America.
make a toplist! (that can be sorted on 4k..)
