3D MARK STORAGE GAMING BENCHMARK
UL Solutions has created a new storage gaming benchmark that we will start to use as new SSDs come in. The 3DMark Storage Benchmark DLC extends 3DMark Advanced Edition with a dedicated component test for measuring the gaming performance of SSDs and other storage hardware. It supports all the latest storage technologies and tests practical, real-world gaming performance for activities such as loading games, saving progress, installing game files, and recording gameplay video streams.
REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
If you read many of our reviews, you are probably a bit annoyed that we didn’t include so many of the comparison charts as we normally might. Simply put, we get very few DRAMless SSDs and didn’t feel pointing out the performance difference between those SSDs with a DRAM chip and those without was necessary. We had already explained the difference. Having said that, we did include one key metric comparable which was our Final Fantasy game load time benchmark as we felt the Corsair MP600 GS did very well, less than a second from top spot actually. Who would have thought? The MP600 GS a single sided gaming SSD!
Actually, that comparison isn’t such a far fetched one when we consider that we did our complete test regimen without a heatsink on the SSD and found that, in comparison to 99% of the other SSDs, the Corsair MP600 GS is a very cool runner and doesn’t require a heatsink whatsoever. One might not expect that from a Gen 4 SSD capable of speeds up to 5GB/s and over 1 million IOPS. So where wouldn’t we use this? Demanding workloads and media manipulation. Every day use…gaming… things that aren’t so mission critical? Absolutely! The Corsair MP600 has a decent price and 5-year limited warranty to boot.
