MyDigitalSSD Bullet Proof 5 Eco M.2 SSD Review (480GB) – Untouchable Value

REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS

Considering this M.2 SSD has such a low price point and is not a big name brand, perhaps we should take a look at some deciding factors before purchase:

TLC MEMORY

TLC (triple level cell) memory does not have the lifespan of mlc (multi level cell) memory, as mlc memory doesn’t have the lifespan of slc (single level cell) memory.  A few years ago, the industry cried foul at the suggestion that TLC memory be used in SSDs, just as the industry cried foul several years back when it was suggested that mlc memory replace slc.

TLC memory will not last as long as mlc memory, but it has become the norm within the industry for consumer SSDs and there is a reason; it is reliable, has equal the performance of mlc and will last.  For 99.9% of typical PC users, a TLC SSD will last for several years and as long as you own the system and that is what matters most.

HDD vs SSD vs SSD

If you are moving up from a hard drive to an SSD, the performance seen in a SSD is substantial and noticeable every time you use your computer.  This is a given.  What many don’t realize though is that the typical user can never tell the difference from one SSD to the next in typical PC use.  In fact, even the experts cannot differentiate between the two unless they have a specific purpose outside regular daily system activity.  Why pay for a premium SSD when the MyDigitalSSD BP5e will give you EXACTLY the same visible performance in a SATA 3 system?

PERFORMANCE

The BP5e provides disk transfer speed at the top of the SATA 3 spectrum.  The speed cannot get higher.  Particularly impressive though was that, in addition to throughput speeds, the BP5e attained the 100K IOPS mark which further demonstrates its character. One  would be hard pressed to find a better performing SATA 3 SSD for the tasks this SSD is intended.

VALUE AND WARRANTY

The MyDigitalSSD BP5e M.2 480GB SSD comes with a 3-year warranty which is typical of TLC SSDs.   Its price is untouchable and one of the lowest we could find on the market.  The odd part is that the only thing we can see restricting sales of this SSD is lack of consumer knowledge.   $129.99 for a 480GB SSD is phenomenal!

FINAL THOUGHTS

The MyDigitalSSD BP5e M.2 SATA 3 SSD has great performance, a decent warranty and amazing value and we would have no problem whatsoever recommending this SSD.  It is without question that we can place our Top Value Award on this SSD.

Waiting patiently for some 2260 size SSDs for my mini itx motherboard (preferably PCIe). Currently the Crucial MX200 is the only game in town.
