REPORT ANALYSIS AND CLOSING THOUGHTS
To be quite frank, MyDigitalSSD solid state drives are not very well known and certainly aren’t household names as are the likes of Samsung, Intel and even Toshiba. This then puts an almost necessary onus on them to find a way to get their name out there and their product recognized as, at least, equal performing and just as affordable.
PERFORMANCE
With respect to performance, the MyDigitalSSD 128GB ‘Bulletproof’ mSATA SSD surprised us as its read and write transfer speeds both exceed 200MB/s and, in fact, the read speeds are as high as they can get as they reach the maximum performance of a SATA 2 SSD. Even our review of the Intel 310 mSATA SSD only showed performance at 214MB/s read and 87MB/s write which was significantly lower than the MyDigital Discount SSD.
MyDigitalSSD easily leads the pack with four configurations of their MyDigitalSSD as well as a fifth, configured specifically for caching. At this point, there are several sitting back and waiting to see the new line of 256GB mSATA SSDs appear but, for now, 128GB is a great capacity for just about any user wanting to incorporate a mSATA SSD into their system.
VALUE
If you are a baseball fan, you will understand me completely when I say that this is the ‘sweet spot’ of this review. The price point of all configurations is just to significant to overlook, especially when we see such popular mSATA SSDs as the Intel priced higher than the MyDigitalDiscount 128GB SSD and with 48GB less capacity. This is where Matt Dawson and MyDigitalSSD will grab the attention of so many seeking mSATA SSDs at a great price.
FINAL THOUGHTS
If you are walking the fence and waiting for our analysis before jumping, we whole-heartedly recommend the MyDigitalSSD family of solid state drives. The simple fact is that, unless you have a specific application in mind for this SSD that will entail a great deal of working with incompressible data, you could never tell the difference between this or any of the other mSATA SSDs we have tested. They all have very similar disk access speeds which is the bread and butter of performance when we make a comparison between SSD and HDDs. This SSD has an amazing price point with great performance, plain and simple.
It will be interesting add and test MyDigitalSSD 128GB to Toshiba Z830 laptop.
When do you test Samsung 256gb msata?
Still awaiting on its arrival.
Please test it in Toshiba Z830 laptop too.
