3D MARK STORAGE GAMING BENCHMARK
UL Solutions has created a new storage gaming benchmark that we will start to use as new SSDs come in. The 3DMark Storage Benchmark DLC extends 3DMark Advanced Edition with a dedicated component test for measuring the gaming performance of SSDs and other storage hardware. It supports all the latest storage technologies and tests practical, real-world gaming performance for activities such as loading games, saving progress, installing game files, and recording gameplay video streams.
The Crucial T500 Pro maintained its performance through all tests, remaining right beside (or in front of ) the 990 Pro.
REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
We made a very bold claim at the start of this report that the Crucial T500 Pro 4-channel NVMe SSD could disrupt the SSD industry and we hope this report shows why we believe such. One of the biggest inhibitors of the transition to SSDs through the past 15 years has been price. The tech evolves and prices simply don’t go down as much as they should. The Crucial T500 Pro just struck an arrow in the heart of those high prices.
The T500 Pro provides throughput speeds as high as 7.1GB/s and IOPS as high as 1.4 million on an Intel based system. It is second only to the 4TB version of the Samsung 990 Pro in our true data testing regimen, beating the 2TB version cleanly we might add, and it is well ahead of just about every other high-end niche 8-channel SSDs in every test we throw at it. Every test speaks for itself and this SSD comes with a 5-year warranty.
Now pricing. We see the 2TB version of the T500 Pro on Amazon right now at $169 and that’s a great start. It’s really a great price point for this caliber of an SSD but wait. That is what we are seeing on initial release. This SSD is destined for great things. Would we buy it? Do we recommend it? Just fell off my chair… Editor’s Choice.
Right now on Amazon (11/6/23), using the above link:
2TB no heat sink is $119.99
2TB with heat sink is $124.99
This is truly unbelievable. I am currently buying parts for a new build. I had planned on a 990 Pro, but not any more! The Crucial T500 2TB replaced it on my list, and I see no justification for a gen 5 SSD, considering the reviews here at TSSDR. Thanks for an excellent review
I just bought two of the 2 TB Crucial T500 (no heat sink) SSDs using the link above today (1/1/2024) for $107.99 each.
These prices for such an outstanding performer are unbelievable.
After reading the review on TSSDR when the Crucial MX100 came out, I bought the 500 GB 2.5″ SSD, if I remember correctly, for at least as much as I paid for one of the 2 TB T500s I just bought.
Things certainly have changed over the years, and I’m thankful for that.
