REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
We are rather fortunate to have had the opportunity to be one of the first to review Sabrent’s newest CFExpress card family, along with their CFExpress Type B reader. As usual, packaging and presentation are beyond reproach and value simply cannot be questioned. It wasn’t so long ago that one was looking at $800 and higher for a 1TB SSD. Both the 512GB and 1TB Sabrent Rocket CFX CFExpress Type B cards are very competitively priced and come with the Sabrent standard 3-year on registration.
While it was great to see the 1TB card surpass the newest VPG400 standard, we expected to see the same of the 512GB volume as well and our findings were confirmed with Sabrent. I threw both cards into the Canon R5 and tested the various HQ video modes without issue. All were available and all recorded as expected. I have to admit though that I would love to see a PRO version come out that demonstrated sustained write performance above 1GB/s, although some might argue that this is not a necessity if all camera functions worked the same regardless.
Although I am not totally sold on the 512GB card, there seems to be a silver lining in this story. The Sabrent Rocket CFX 1TB CFExpress Type B Card is the highest performing 1TB CFExpress Card we have tested to date which includes sustained write performance that meets VPG400 specs. Add to this Sabrent’s 3-year warranty and the fact that it comes in at an amazing price point and this specific 1TB card is highly recommended. Silver Seal on the 1TB!
There are 2 versions of these cards – one Blue and one Copper — the copper colours version CF-XXIT-2TB seems quicker than the blue one — but it would me great to see test results. Sustained Write Speed and TEMP
