The Corsair 5000X RGB ATX case is without a doubt one of the most well thought out and complete cases I have ever had in my hands. In fact, we just ordered a number to flip our AMD system into as well. It is a bit more expensive than some of the others, but that is because it has tempered glass front. back and top and comes with three Corsair SP RGB Elite fans, iCue Lighting Node Core and Corsair iCue software for personalized or preset lighting effects.
The reason I list this system as being so complete is because it seems to have tackled some of the worst we have seen in PC cases throughout the years. Tempered glass with screws, bad cable management throughout, rear panel that you have to jump on to get to close, and specifically, trying to get the front and back panels set while you try to hold the panel in and replace the screws.
Corsair takes care of all of that. The glass, simply clicks into place and is held firmly. Cable management is tackled through effective routing and retention. The two glass side panels easily set into tabs at the front and then click firmly into place lining up the rear screws perfectly for very easy tightening. Even better yet, there is a swinging and removable white panel that closes easily to hide your PSU, SATA drives, RGB controllers and cabling even before the glass panel gets put back on.
Let’s go one step further for those builders. There is ample room front, rear top and the back side for fans, ten in total for just the case which makes liquid cooling a breeze. IN our build, you might describe it as somewhat of a wind tunnel as we have 13 fans in total with one more on its way. The end result will be air pulled out from the front and back with it being pushed out from the rear side and top.
So…there is one area of concern with this case and it would only really apply to those still using several hard drives. The hard drive cage at the bottom center cannot stay if you are placing a modular power supply of any size in there. There is no way it would fit for our Corsair RM850x and was a very simple removal.
Very worthy of mention is the fact that Corsair even includes different configuration for the inside base platform as you look at the clear glass side bottom right. When removed from the box, the cover that hides the PSU is level right across but we simply clicked out the original attachment and clicked in another that was included to accommodate for the fans as can be seen in this shot.
The top panel provides for connectivity that includes power, reset, audio in/out, 2 x USB 3.0 ports and a USB 3.1 Type-C port which is actually a 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gbps port that will reach speeds of 900MB/s read and write for compatible USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gbps devices.
Last but not least, the Corsair 5000x is vertical GPU mount ready, although the PCIe 4 riser cable is not included and the pre-drilled holes just under the GPU are set specifically for the Corsair PCIe 3.0 x16 cable. We located a PCIe 4.0 x 16 white riser cable which we will cover with the GPU information in a bit.
Checking Amazon, we can find the Corsair iCUE 5000X RGB Tempered Glass Mid-Tower TX case at $247.58.
