The Corsair RM850x is an 850 watt 80Plus Gold Certified PSU which has my favorite Zero RPM Fan Mode and a 10 years warranty. This means the fan does not start spinning until needed, providing a much quieter PC.
Something to be considered if you had previously purchased Corsairs premium colored cables is that the cables required for this PSU are Type 4 (Gen 3). These cables contain small, solid capacitors on the +12V, +5V and +3.3V leads on the 24-pin, PCIe and EPS12V cables which provide for ripple suppression in load. The RM850x PSU can be found at Amazon for $119
CORSAIR HYDRO SERIES H100i V2 CPU COOLER
Corsair Hydro Series CPU Coolers have been my choice of CPU Coolers for some time now. Not only are they completely silent, but also their radiator design is such a natural for any high end PC, when compaired to the standard fan type CPU coolers that are all together too intrusive IMO.
As we decided to go with the compact design of the Corsair Crystal series 460x RGB Chassis, we found ourselves needing the smaller size of the H100i series fans, and also completing our installation with the radiator on the front of the PC, rather than top as we normally would with full size chassis’. Even in such a small design, the system looks great! The Corsair H100i V2 CPU Cooler can be found at Amazon for $96.
CORSAIR CRYSTAL SERIES 460X RGB MID-TOWER CHASSIS
Quite frankly, I just cannot speak highly enough of this case. My initial attraction for it was, without a doubt, the result of it having full viewing access to the inside of the chassis, but the cut of the tinted glass on the front and side is just amazing.
Add in the fact that there is a cover for PSU and wiring, it comes with three SP120 RGB fans LED fans, its exterior is all metal with a flexible magnetic matt on top and this case is a win win! Price is set at$138 at Amazon.
CORSAIR STRAFE RGB SILENT GAMING KEYBOARD
As much as I can say about this keyboard, its lack of ‘click’ and silence is great. This is the result of Cherry MX silent HP key switches and the keyboard is also fully programmable with multi-color LED lighting behind each switch, USB pass-thru, a soft touch wrist rest and many other features.
Pricing for the Corsair STRAFE RGB Silent is set at $80 at Amazon.
Now to see how this compares to RyZen 🙂
We will get a Ryzen system top chip to test. Personally, unless you are an overclocker who uses the OC effectively, the biggest benefit from AMD is the fact that they push prices down. Remember now… base clock Ryzen is well below that of this CPU. Thank you for the comment.
I’m running a custom water myself – but yes – for VR where minimum FPS matters, I have a feeling the i7 is going to pull ahead.. Still, as you say – looking forward to the price changes regardless. I like your detailed storage reviews btw – keep up the great work!
