CRYSTAL DISK BENCHMARK VER. 5.2.1 X64
Crystal Disk Benchmark is used to measure read and write performance through sampling of random data which is, for the most part, incompressible. Performance is virtually identical, regardless of data sample so we have included only that using random data samples.
Crystal Disk Mark’s results show to be much better. Here the WD Black PCIe reaches speeds of 2039MB/s read and 833MB/s write, which are just about in line with the rated spec. 4K QD1 performance also shows to be very good here. Read performance is nearly 50MB/s and write is 170MB/s on the dot.
The toughest benchmark available for solid state drives is AS SSD as it relies solely on incompressible data samples when testing performance. For the most part, AS SSD tests can be considered the ‘worst case scenario’ in obtaining data transfer speeds and many enthusiasts like AS SSD for their needs. Transfer speeds are displayed on the left with IOPS results on the right.
AS SSD’s results are a bit lower than the other test results, but this is normal for us to see in testing. The WD Black PCIe achieved an overall score of 1974 points and reached 1.3GB/s read and 788MB/s write performance. At 4K QD1 its results were decent, but not as good as many of the PCIe SSDs we have seen. Looking at the IOPS performance, we see that it achieved 167K/131K, which is very close to its rated 170K/134K ratings. Finally, the Copy test shows all speeds above SATA’s potential as we expected.
ANVIL STORAGE UTILITIES PROFESSIONAL
Anvil’s Storage Utilities (ASU) are the most complete test bed available for the solid state drive today. The benchmark displays test results for, not only throughput but also, IOPS and Disk Access Times. Not only does it have a preset SSD benchmark, but also, it has included such things as endurance testing and threaded I/O read, write and mixed tests, all of which are very simple to understand and use in our benchmark testing.
In Anvil Storage Utilities, we can see that the WD Black PCIe delivered an overall score of 8.4K points. This result is fairly good and better than what any SATA based SSD could achieve. Sequential and 4K speeds show to be in between that of AS SSD and Crystal Disk Mark with read reaching 1.7GB/s and write at nearly 800MB/s.
Wd very late to the ssd market, still finding their feet. Average drive, but 5yr warranty is standout feature.
Yeah they are. Their first PCIe option is fairly good, I can’t wait to see what the next version has in store now that they got their feet wet.
