Without a doubt, one of my favorite things about tech shows is being contacted last-minute by a company nobody has ever heard of, and being asked to check out their first SSD. This happened at CES 2019 and the company name is Asura. They are a brand new company who is hoping to market a new SSD with all the bells and whistles, and their initially packaging definitely didn’t fail to impress.
The SSD itself contains the Phison PS5012-E12 controller and is a PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD compatible with NVME 1.3 protocol. It will contain the latest 3D TLC NAND flash memory and be available in capacities ranging from 240GB to 2TB. Its listed specs are 3.5GB//s read and 3GB/s write with 600K IOPS but, since I was sitting in front of my computer doing this report anyway, I thought I might pop it in for a quick test.
This was most definitely a great start. The Asura Genesis Xtreme is more than simply the SSD though. Had to post a vid showing the exterior, which comprises of a modular dual heatsink to dissipate heat, as well as a very attractive LED diffuser design. The exterior can always be removed if for some reason it doesn’t fit on your motherboard, but it fit on ours perfectly…very impressive.
Stay tuned as we get a review up in a week or so; this product is expected to be in all popular e-tailers some time prior to March.
Ya, probably hits that numbrrs using the cache nobody wants. Pleaee be pro, on test use more than 32gb as for test. Or do many 8gb co secutive tests
