REAL WORLD FILE TRANSFER COMPARISON
For our Real World File Transfer Comparison, we have included the Tekq Rapide TB3, Glyph USB 3.1 2TB Atom RAID external SSD, SanDisk Extreme, and Samsung T3 in our testing of the Lexar SL100 Pro Portable 1TB SSD. This test is conducted through the transfer of data from one spot on the test drive to another to give us the truest of transfer speed results for that device.
This chart is pretty much self explanatory when it comes to external storage, of course ThunderBolt 3 reigning true as it should with speeds up to 2.8GB/s, Type-C as we have seen it with the JMicron JMS583 hitting speeds of 1GB/s and then USB 3.1 still in the 500MB/s range. The speeds we see from the Lexar SL100 Pro here are the same as we will see from just about any device with this same JMicron controller. Great performance.
REPORT SUMMARY AND FINAL THOUGHTS
The Lexar Professional SL100 Pro Portable SSD is available today from Amazon and is definitely one of the toughest and most portable examples of external storage we have seen yet. Its construction is of a very solid and well machined aluminum and having capacities from the 250GB to the 1TB size with a 3-year limited warranty is a huge plus.
Pricing of the SL100 Pro might be somewhat niche, but inline for what you are getting. This is a very well made storage device. Performance in some of our testing was exactly as we expected at 1GB/s read and write, well above listed specifications. Lexar adds another benefit to this purchase by making available free via download the ENC DataVault Lite security software and Feature Sheet to determine if this software suits your needs.

Great review. Just a quick question. I ordered the 250GB version of this drive hoping that the read/write speed was the same for all versions up to the 1TB. Can you confirm if the speeds are the same for all drive versions? Thanks
I am sorry but the specifications do not list a difference and we only had the one capacity to test.
