Toshiba is announcing that their PX04S 12Gb/s SAS SSDs are now FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified, providing the highest level of data security for users that require certified protection of their critical and/or valuable data. FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) are a set of standards that describe document processing, encryption algorithms and other information technology standards for use within non-military government agencies and by government contractors and vendors who work with the agencies (from the Government IT glossary).
Attaining FIPS certification is resource and manpower intensive, and requires a significant commitment to achieve and maintain. Toshiba’s FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certified PX04S SSDs are now shipping in NetApp® hybrid FAS and E-Series storage array systems. The PX04S is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 1900 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1100 MB/s. Random 4K read and write speeds are stated as up to 270,000 IOPS.
