Thin Film Electronics ASA (“Thinfilm”) has announced receipt of their first order for use of Thinfilm Memory for brand protection. The order was received from a global consumer packaged goods company, and will utilize Thinfilm’s system of specialized electronics labels to help thwart product counterfeiting.
According to Davor Sutija, Thinfilm’s CEO, “The largest companies in the world lose billions of dollars every year to illegally copied merchandise. Product labels are easy to duplicate, and even authorized retailers may be unable to recognize counterfeit products. Thinfilm’s ultra low-cost electronic memory provides distributors and retailers a powerful way to detect fake products.”
Thinfilm Memory’s electronic signature is virtually impossible to replicate. The label’s signal can be deliberately and predictably modified to create unique signatures for a specific product line or specific manufacturer. The brand protection system utilizes a handheld reader to scan custom-designed memory labels to verify their authenticity. Thinfilm Memory labels can be applied to virtually any product in the same manner as any conventional label. Thinfilm’s unique protection process creates memory labels that are extremely robust and durable. They are able to withstand abusive handling and harsh environments.
Thinfilm’s memory label offering delivers electronic validation at the individual item level, assuring consumers that they are buying an authentic product.
