Micron CEO Steve Appleton died in a small plane crash this morning at the Boise, Idaho Airport, home of Micron Headquarter. Appleton, a long time plane enthusiast, was flying his single engine fixed wing Piper Lancair when the accident occurred.
Appleton is well respected by all in the industry as he earned his place at Micron from the ground up, his first position being that of a production worker on the assembly line.
Microns has issued this statement: We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Appleton, Micron Chairman and CEO, passed away this morning in a small plane accident in Boise.
He was 51. Our hearts go out to his wife, Dalynn, his children and his family during this tragic time. Steves passion and energy left an indelible mark on Micron, the Idaho community and the technology industry at large.
The SSD Review has enjoyed a very close relationship with Micron for several years now and we would like to also pass our condolences to his family, friends and members of the Micron family and if I could pass a thought on…
God Speed Steve.
