Western Digital is utilizing CES 2018 to announce several new products, under both the WD and SanDisk brands. These new solutions help consumers to gather, share, preserve and access their files, photos and videos. Today’s data-driven life includes rich content from drones, action cameras, smartphones and even VR headsets.
The first announcement is of the SanDisk Ultra Fit 256GB USB Flash drive. This is currently the world’s smallest 256GB USB Flash drive, and can plug into laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, car audio systems and more.
Western Digital is also displaying a prototype of the world’s smallest 1TB USB Type-C Flash drive — an enormous amount of storage in a tiny form factor.
WD’s My Passport Wireless Drive allows for direct capture of photos and videos from drones or cameras. The durable and shock-resistant SSD inside and wireless capability enable users to connect wirelessly to saved photos and videos, and stream 4K video to other devices — ideal for outdoor users.
SanDisk’s new Extreme Portable is a rugged SSD that provides data transfer speeds of up to 550MB/s, making it the perfect companion for saving and editing hi-resolution video and photos. The Extreme Portable SSD is available in capacities up to 2TB, with enough storage for even extensive photo shoots. Its IPSS rating means it can withstand spills, rain, splashes and dust to help protect your on-the-go content.
WD’s latest update to their My Cloud Home software adds integration with a Smart Home media app to enable voice-activation. This allows users to centralize their content in one place, with the ability to access and share that content from a mobile phone anywhere with an internet connection. This update also enables My Cloud Home to connect to devices such as Alexa and Chromecast, giving users access to content via voice-activation.
Stay tuned for further announcements and updates as TSSDR continues to explore CES 2018.
