TOP MSATA SSD – MUSHKIN ATLAS 480GB
If we had our choice, the top mSATA SSD choice might be the Samsung PM841 512GB mSATA SSD for performance, value and price. The difficulty lies in the fact that availability just isn’t there and it is not a consumer release, but for third party sales on Amazon. Third party sales do mean that length, or even means, of warranty support might become an issue should the SSD fail. The Mushkin Atlas 480GB ‘Sandforce Drive’ mSATA SSD has had top sales, a solid warranty, and it has been out for some time which speaks to reputation. As our deciding point was leveraged more in availability than any other factor, as the PM841 seems to sell out as soon as it becomes available, we are going to list our reviews and Amazon pricing for both mSATA SSDs.

TOP EXTERNAL SSD – KINGSTON WI-DRIVE
We have been through countless external storage devices over the past few years and the hard drive just doesn’t cut it when comparing to that of an external SSD. In rating external SSDs, size and shape seems to be as important as capacity or value, but the inclusion of Wi-fi and the ability to instantly connect to an IOS or Android device has been a stroke of genius. My personal choice is the Kingston Wi-Drive and there isn’t a day that I haven’t this little baby with me. With the ability to have up to four people connected and viewing data, video, photographs, or even listening to music all at once, the Wi-Drive is one of those top tech toys we love.

TOP SSD BASED FLASH DRIVE
This was a rather easy decision as the SuperTalent RC8 ‘SandForce Driven’ 100GB Flash Drive is another of those tech favorites that is always with me. Capacity is amazing and, with reviewed performance as high as 272MB/s read and 256MB/s write disk transfer speeds, this flash drive still hasn’t a competitor to be found.

TOP MASS STORAGE ADD ON – OWC ACCELSIOR PCIE_E2
In recently reviewing the Accelsior PCIe_E2 SSD, our views on eSATA changed completely. Not only does 6Gbps dual eSATA enable read and write performance of 800MB/s, but also, any thoughts of storage limitations are erased completely. Installation of the Accelsior_E2 allows for external storage to grow an amazing 32TB, in and above the Accelsiors included capacity.

TOP MAC UPGRADE – OWC EXTREME FAMILY
This question has arisen countless times over the past few years and, as much as we say that an SSD is an SSD is an SSD with respect to compatability, we have always tried to steer those ‘Mac lovers’ in the right direction. The truth is that a Mac SSD upgrade blows your mind when you first look into it. First off, there are warranty considerations as they they don’t want you to open your Mac and, even then, an SSD replacement is an unreal cost factor that includes their retention of your SSD. We would still like to know why any company would want… no…demand to keep your original SSD in the replacement process.
Other World Computing is our definite Mac recommendation as, not only do they sell that very Mac upgrade Mercury Extreme SSD for almost half the price, but their support is easily the top in the industry ,be it Mac or PC.
Not only do they have available migration kits for all situations, but also, easy to follow instructioons, videos and even online support make your migration enjoyable and painless.
In addition, their warranty policy is unbeatable as it includes something that we have yet to see elsewhere, a 30 day ‘no questions asked’ return policy. How much more can you ask for?
