Transcend Information, Inc., a leading global producer of storage and multimedia devices, is announcing the addition of a 256GB version of its JetDrive Lite expansion cards for MacBook laptops, including MacBook Pro with Retina display and MacBook Air models. This is in addition to the 64GB and 128GB versions already available. Transcend’s JetDrive Lite expansion cards are designed for use with specific MacBook models, and each has a flush profile with the side of the laptop where it is inserted, creating a simple way to add additional storage capacity for media.
Transcend’s JetDrive Lite expansion cards provide substantial storage space for photos, movies, music, personal documents, backups and more. The JetDrive Lite 130/350/360 series are all now available in capacity points of 64GB, 128GB and now 256GB. Only the JetDrive Lite 330 series does not yet offer a 256GB version. Each Transcend JetDrive Lite 256GB expansion card can hold over 120,000 high-resolution photos, 64,000 mp3 songs, 64 hours of full HD video, or a virtually unlimited number of documents. Once inserted into a MacBook laptop, the card does not protrude from the side like an SD card, allowing it to be left in place for on-the-go storage.
The JetDrive Lite expansion cards are produced utilizing top-tier MLC NAND flash, and are able to attain transfer speeds of up to 95MB/s (reads) and up to 60MB/s (writes). This equates to much reduced transfer times for even the largest files, which is of particular value to graphic artists, video editors and photographers who regularly work with high-resolution images and large files.
Transcend’s JetDrive Lite expansion cards also feature built-in ECC (error correction code), as well as utilizing a proprietary wear-leveling algorithm to extend operational life. By utilizing a special COB (Chip-on-Board) manufacturing method, Transcend has made the JetDrive Lite expansion cards virtually impervious to water and dust. Transcend also includes with the purchase of any JetDrive Lite expansion card a free download of their JetDrive Toolbox, which enables Recovery and Power Save functions. This allows users the ability to recover accidentally deleted files, as well as saving power to help prolong battery life of the MacBook.
The 130/350/360 series of JetDrive Lite expansion cards carry an MSRP of $49.00 for the 64GB versions, $99.00 for the 128GB versions, and $199.00 for the 256GB versions. For the JetDrive Lite 330 series, the 64GB version has an MSRP of $49.00, with the 128GB version at $99.00. All of the Transcend JetDrive Lite expansion cards are subjected to full testing for compatibility and reliability, and are all backed by Transcend with their Limited Lifetime Warranty.
