Toshiba Corporation, a global storage solutions leader, is announcing expansion of its enterprise SSD family to include new models keyed toward read-intensive applications. It is anticipated that the new PX03SN series of 12GB/s SAS SSDs will begin shipping just before calendar year’s end.
Toshiba’s PX03SN series will support up to one full drive write per day (DWPD), and are geared toward servers and storage systems handling tasks such as cloud computing, online transactions and gaming, and big data analytics. The PX03SN series is especially attractive for users seeking an optimal blend of performance, price and endurance. The PX03SN series will feature Toshiba’s own 19nm MLC NAND.
The PX03SN family of SSDs will be offered in capacities of 200GB, 400GB, 800GB and 1.6TB (1600GB). Sequential read speeds are states as 910 MB/s for all but the 1.6TB, which is close behind at 900MB/s. As these are read-optimized SSDs, the write speeds for all capacities are stated as 380MB/s. Random 4K sustained read IOPS are stated at 130,000 IOPS, while 4K sustained writes are 26,000 IOPS.
The 200GB, 400GB and 800GB models are of a standard 7.0mm form factor. The 1.6TB version, requiring dual PCBs, is housed in a 15.0mm enclosure. Mean time between failures (MTBF) is stated as 2,000,000 hours. Toshiba is backing the PX03SN series with a five-year warranty.
