SP (Silicon Power) has launched the 7mm thick Slim S50 SSD series in capacities from 32GB to 256GB with maximum sequential read/write speeds up to 530MB/s and 200MB/s respectively.
The slim height is important as it opens up the range of devices it may be installed into from ultrabooks to desktops. The Slim S50 SSD features a SATA III 6Gbp/s with NAND flash. SP is indicating that the controller and firmware is unlike any other in the market to confer high IOPS during sustained use.
The Slim S50 SSD supports NCQ, TRIM, garbage collection, ECC error correction routines, and is RAID ready. Rounding out the Slim S50 SSD series is a 3 year warranty. Pricing and availability are currently not available.
