Sonnet Technologies is announcing its new Fusion™ Thunderbolt™ 3 PCIe® Flash Drive – Windows® Edition, which is a rugged, pocket-size solid-state drive (SSD) featuring the Thunderbolt 3 interface. Containing 512GB of flash storage onboard, the Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive utilizes Thunderbolt 3’s 40Gb/s bandwidth to attain data transfer speeds of up to 2100 MB/s.
Sonnet has designed the Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive for ultimate performance in a truly portable storage device, without the need for a power supply. It can be connected to any compatible Windows computer, or at the end of a Thunderbolt 3 device daisy chain using the attached 0.5 meter Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s) cable. Based on the newest PCIe Gen 3 flash memory technology, the Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive can attain 4 X the performance of 6Gb/s SATA SSDs or USB 3.0 flash drives.
According to Robert Farnsworth, CEO of Sonnet Technologies, “When we introduced the original Fusion PCIe Flash Drive last year, it made history as the world’s fastest bus-powered, pocketable storage device. And now, with its blazing-fast Thunderbolt 3 interface, the Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive can sustain the ultra-high file transfer speeds required for just about any 4K workflow – whether users needs an ultra-fast shuttle drive or a take-anywhere scratch drive for editing high frame rate 4K video at offsite shoots. The Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive is a perfect example of how Thunderbolt 3 now offers the industry’s fastest and most versatile connection to any peripheral device.”
With dimensions of only 2.8” wide, 4.1” deep and 1.25” thick, the Fusion PCIe Flash Drive features a rugged aluminum housing, which also help with heat dissipation, effectively keeping the device cool without the need for fans and maintaining silent operation. Its power-efficient design is bus-powered, eliminating the need for an AC adapter.
The Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive is designed and built by California-based Sonnet Technologies, and is compatible with Microsoft® Windows 7 and Windows 10. The 512GB Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive is anticipated to be available by the end of April, at an MSRP of $799 US.
