OCZ Storage Solutions, a Toshiba Group Company and leading producer of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs), is announcing its latest addition to its Intrepid 3000 series of SATA III (6Gb/s) enterprise SSDs. The Intrepid 3700 series offers excellent performance and I/O latency response to dramatically increase application performance and I/O efficiency. The Intrepid 3700 will be offered in capacities all the way up to 2TB, making it the largest capacity enterprise SATA SSD that OCZ offers to date.
The new Intrepid 3700 series of SSDs is being offered in capacity points of 240GB, 480GB, 960GB and 1920GB of usable storage. The Intrepid 3700 series utilize Toshiba’s A19nm enterprise eMLC NAND flash memory, paired with OCZ’s Everest 2 controller platform. Included are an optimized firmware architecture and advanced flash management to efficiently control all maintenance routines, including wear-leveling and garbage collection, to provide the Intrepid 3700 series with long-term sustained performance.
According to Daryl Lang, CTO of OCZ Storage Solutions, “Datacenter customers have asked for larger solid state drives that do not make any sacrifices in performance or endurance to address the need to manage the ever growing amounts of data being generated by today’s computing environments. Our new Intrepid 3700 series is designed to meet these market requirements for an easy to deploy solid state solution that delivers the very best balance of features, endurance, and capacity.”
The Intrepid 3700 series provides superior steady-state performance for either large block sequential transfers, or for small block random transfers. Performance is stated as (up to) 540MB/s sequential reads (128KB blocks) and (up to) 470MB/s sequential writes (128KB blocks). Random 4K reads are stated as (up to) 91,000 IOPS, with random 4K writes stated as (up to) 13,000 IOPS.
OCZ has included in the Intrepid 3700 series a full suite of enterprise-class features, including error correction coding (ECC), end-to-end data path protection, power-loss protection (PLP) to prevent data loss in the event of a power failure or interruption, and internal SSD RAID that duplicates all data stored so that in the event of flash errors a back-up exists.
The Intrepid 3700 series of SSDs are produced in the standard 2.5” form factor, and by utilizing premium NAND flash they are guaranteed for up to one complete drive-write per day (DWPD) for 5 years. These drives are geared toward read-intensive applications such as media streaming, online archiving, virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI), video on demand (VOD), and web browsing. All capacities of the Intrepid 3700 series are available through OCZ’s global network of authorized enterprise resellers.
