OCZ Storage Solutions, a Toshiba Group Company and leading producer of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs), is announcing availability of their new Vertex 460A series of SATA III SSDs for mainstream use. The new 460A line includes all of the performance specifications and features of the popular Vertex 460 series of SSDs, and adds enhancements that include the use of Toshiba’s next generation A19 MLC NAND, along with OCZ’s innovative ShieldPlus Warranty.
The Vertex 460A series of SSDs are designed to give the very best of both worlds to users looking for high-end performance at a competitive price point. Utilizing OCZ’s proven Barefoot 3 controller, the Vertex 460A delivers performance that puts it ahead of other similar capacity SSDs. By focusing on real-world measurements such as sustained performance and mixed workloads, the 460A series provides a faster and more responsive computing experience.
OCZ’s Vertex 460A series of SSDs are rated for sequential read speeds of (up to) 545 MB/s, with sequential write speeds of (up to) 525 MB/s. Random 4K read speeds are stated as (up to) 95,000 IOPS, with random 4K write speeds of (up to) 90,000 IOPS. OCZ places priority on reliability and flash-optimized endurance, with the Vertex 460A rated to provide 20GB of host drive writes per day for three years, and also featuring an advanced suite of flash management tools. This provides the Vertex 460A series with the ability to analyze and dynamically adapt to increasing NAND vulnerabilities as the flash cells wear, which heightens data integrity and increases the lifespan of the drive.
The Vertex 460A is expected to hit retailer and e-tailer shelves this week, and is being offered in capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB. The Vertex 460A series includes over $50 (U.S.) of extras, including a free download of Acronis TrueImage drive cloning software, and a 3.5” adapter bracket to simplify installation. The Vertex 460A series of SSDs also include 3 years worth of OCZ’s new ShieldPlus warranty, which provides an elite level of customer service experience, eliminating many of the hassles associated with traditional customer experiences with warranty claims from most companies (currently being offered in U.S. and European markets only).
