OCZ Technology Group, Inc., a leading producer and innovator of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs), is announcing a new version of their popular Deneva 2 series of enterprise SSDs. The new Deneva 2 model will be produced utilizing 19nm process architecture NAND flash Multi-Level Cell (MLC) memory. Not only will the new Deneva 2 SSD feature the smaller NAND process geometry, it will also offer a completely new power management architecture that has been designed from the ground up to give server backplanes optimized functionality that includes enhanced management of power source current and power fluctuations. This results in an advanced SSD that provides superior storage performance, enterprise-level endurance, reliability and quality. The new Deneva 2 will deliver for its users a superior level of total cost of ownership (TCO).
The new Deneva 2 SSDs will still feature the time-proven LSI SandForce SF-2281 NAND controller, which attains exceptional performance with the new 19nm process toggle-mode NAND flash memory. The new Deneva 2 is stated as attaining read/write speeds of up to 550 MB/s and up to 520 MB/s, respectively. Random 4K reads are stated at 45,000 IOPS, and random 4K writes at 34,000 IOPS. Along with faster file transfers, boot-ups, and a more responsive user experience, the new Deneva 2 includes additional advanced features such as data fail recovery, intelligent block management, wear-leveling and error correction. Power consumption is greatly reduced in the new Deneva 2 models also.
According to Daryl Lang, SVP of Product Management at OCZ Technology, “Our Deneva 2 has been a popular SSD series among IT professionals not only as an HDD replacement but to dramatically accelerate I/O access of such popular enterprise applications as OnLine Transaction Processing, database warehousing, read-intensive data caching and server boot-ups. By implementing new features and the latest NAND flash process geometry we are able to deliver an optimal balance of I/O performance and cost-efficiency to our customers.”
The new Deneva 2 series of SSDs will be offered in capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB. Pricing has not yet been announced. The OCZ press release on the new Deneva 2 series of enterprise SSDs can be viewed in its entirety here.
Looks like Ocz is under stating iops…similar to the way Intel did with the 520s. Strange.

isnt deneva 2 old? from what i know it had MLC and SLC now its 19nm? just some flash change..
And redesigned power management — big reduction in power consumption.
