If you are anything like us, you have probably got a bevy of mSATA SSDs lying around and sometimes think that you should be putting, at least a few of these to use.
MyDigitalSSD has, at least partially, found an answer to our dilemma with their USB 3 External 2.5″ SATA/50mm mSATA Enclosure Combo.
The best thing about this kit is it can also be used as an mSATA to SATA 3 adapter.
As an enclosure, one simply inserts the mSATA SSD into the adapter and then slides the adapter into the case, hooking it up to your system via the USB 2 or USB 3 cable included with the kit. The adapter can also be connected directly to your systems power and data cables for full SATA 3 speeds if needed.
As a USB 3 enclosure, we understand that there is a bit of a bottleneck in performance and speeds can be expected to top out right about here:
As a SATA 3 adapter however, the sky is the limit especially with the MyDigitalSSD 256GB SMART mSATA SSD as shown in this picture and reviewed previously, deservedly receiving our Editors Choice Award. The SMART drive remains to be one of the top selling mSATA SSDs available because of its price and performance.

Sam ,
I am just fortunate that you take the time to mentor me when you do!
This combo makes for easy cloning when upgrading your factory mSATA drive and then storage for your old one.
