We met today with Mushkin in a suite at the MGM. One of their new items on display was the Reactor Armor3D solid-state drive. This drive features 3D MLC NAND paired with a Silicon Motion SM2258 controller. It is available in capacities ranging from 240GB all the way up to 2TB.
The Reactor Armor3D is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 565MB/s, and sequential write speeds of up to 525MB/s. Random 4K read speeds are listed as up to 90,000 IOPS, with random 4K write speeds of up to 80,000 IOPS.
This drive is a little bit unique in that it offers user-upgradable firmware. It features built-in BCH ECC error correction code, as well as supporting S.M.A.R.T. drive performance and health monitoring attributes. It is rated for a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1.5 million hours. It will be backed by a 3-year limited warranty. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
Stay tuned for further developments as we continue our meetings and explorations here at CES 2017.
