Micron is announcing release of their P420m PCIe SSD for enterprise and data center applications requiring high performance read operations. Micron utilizes their own 25nm MLC NAND Flash in the P420m to provide enterprise-class reliability and performance at a mainstream price point. The P420m is designed for applications such as caching, cloud and data centers, web acceleration, and online transaction processing.
The P420m, Micron’s first MLC PCIe SSD, is a further enhancement of their stable of enterprise market offerings, and demonstrates their focus on high-performance enterprise storage products. Utilizing Micron’s own MLC technology allows the P420m PCIe SSD to deliver superior performance at a more accessible price point. The P420m offers larger capacities and important reliability features, such as power-loss protection.
The P420m comes in two form factors: Either a half-height, half-length (HHHL) PCIe series, or a hot-swappable 2.5″ form factor case. Micron’s P420m will be available in capacities ranging from 350GB up to 1.4TB. The PCIe version P420m is rated at sequential read performance of up to 3 GB/s (128KB transfer size), and up to 750,000 IOPS (4KB transfer size) random read performance. The P420m PCIe SSD delivers high performance, reduced power consumption, and low latency for read-intensive situations.
