Longsys is announcing that it has acquired the Lexar brand and trademark rights from Micron. Micron announced back in June that it was discontinuing sale of Lexar-branded products, and that it was exploring options to sell all or part of that business. Enter Longsys, who plans to further develop and promote the Lexar brand to expand its presence and make it a go-to brand for removable storage. Current Lexar product owners should now be reassured that support for their products will continue uninterrupted.
The Lexar name has long been perceived as high-performance, high-reliability removable storage, especially with both amateur and professional photographers (as well as with other usage applications). Longsys’ global market reach and broad product offerings will expand the renowned Lexar customer experience into new market segments and regions.
According to Huabo Cai, Longsys Electronics Ltd. CEO, “We are very honored to acquire the Lexar brand. Lexar has built a great brand name and our vision is to make it even greater. Existing customers can rest assured that the innovative solutions and excellent support that they have experienced from Lexar will continue. The mission to make Lexar the go-to brand for high-performance removable storage continues, and we will expand upon it to offer even more compelling solutions as the age of wireless and big-data impact the consumer storage markets.”
Longsys has 18+ years experience in the flash storage industry, and offers a wide range of products. Their Foresee® brand is widely used in China, and continues to grow in other areas of the globe. Longsys provides complete solutions, including both hardware and software, and continues to develop the latest flash technologies, including 3D NAND. On a worldwide basis, Longsys sells over 100 million flash products annually. This will give Lexar customers the benefits of a strategy and company culture of innovation, stability, tight quality control, support and services that are customized and localized, as well as a focus on consumer storage.
Emerging and rapidly-growing technologies that include 8K video, automotive infotainment, Virtual Reality, drones, and video surveillance are all driving the need to store ever-expanding volumes of data and images via high-performance, high-reliability removable storage. Longsys’ acquisition of the nearly legendary Lexar brand now have them well-positioned to take full advantage of this growth.
