Our meeting with JMicron this morning at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan, met with the introduction of two new M.2 PCIe SSD controllers to the SSD arena, the JMicron JMF810 and JMF811. The 810 is a PCIe X2 (two lane) controller, while the 811 (PCIe X4) will stand beside that of LSI SandForce (SF3700) and Marvell (Altaplus) in Q4 of this year, if all goes well.
The JMF810 can function in PCIe or SATA mode, is compatible with the latest A19, 16nm, 3D and TLC memory and speaks to performance of 750MB/s read and 640MB/s write with up to 120K IOPS.
The JMF811 boosts performance up to 1.5GB/s read and 1.2 GB/s write with 150K IOPS and has similar memory compatibility.
Although we did not see either controller in operation, JMicron is confident that we will see it on the streets in Q4 of this year.
