EDGE Memory, a leading U.S.-based designer and producer of storage and memory devices, is announcing the release of their newest solid-state drive (SSD) — the EDGE Revolution 7mm. EDGE’s Revolution SSD is made in the U.S.A., and is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, becoming one of the first of its kind available on today’s market. The high-performance Revolution SSD is an ideal storage upgrade for business segments needing to comply with country-of-origin requirements, or for any company or corporation committed to U.S. manufacturing support.
The Revolution SSD is being offered at three capacity points — 120GB, 240GB and 480GB. EDGE’s Revolution SSD features the well-established SandForce SF-2281 controller coupled with premium MLC synchronous NAND flash memory to achieve sequential read speeds of up to 555MB/s for the 120GB version, up to 560MB/s for the 240GB version, and up to 540MB/s for the 480GB version. Sequential write speeds are stated as up to 525MB/s for the 128GB model, 530MB/s for the 240GB model, and 460MB/s for the 480GB version.
According to Ray Agrella, EDGE Memory’s VP of Sales, “We are proud to support U.S. jobs by designing and manufacturing in our factory near Austin, Texas. While a vast majority of the competition has moved their manufacturing offshore, we have been manufacturing in the U.S. for 27 years and counting.”
The EDGE Revolution SSD achieves random 4K read speeds of up to 25,000 IOPS (120GB), up to 45,000 IOPS (240GB), and up to 78,000 IOPS (480GB). Random 4K write speeds are stated as up to 80,000 IOPS for both the 120GB and 240GB versions, with random 4K writes of up to 42,000 IOPS for the 480GB model. Power consumption is stated at 3W (active) and 1W (idle).
EDGE’s Revolution SSD features a full suite of stability and performance-enhancing capabilities, including ECC (Error Correction Code), DuraWrite, RAISE, support for the TRIM command, and more. Also featured are 256-bit AES encryption and a secure-erase function. The Revolution SSD is rated by EDGE for 2,000,000 hours Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and EDGE is backing it with their five-year warranty.
EDGE Memory has plans to offer additional Made-in-the-USA brand-certified SSDs during the balance of 2014, the Revolution being the first such offering as part of an ongoing initiative to support U.S.-made products. The Revolution SSD is available for immediate purchase through EDGE Memory’s select channel partners. The EDGE Revolution SSD product page can be viewed here.
