Dane-Elec, one of the largest manufacturers of flash memory products, storage and consumer electronic devices, has launched their mySSD O-Series family of solid state drives.
Designed for mobile, server, embedded, and outdoor computing, the 1.8″ SATA 3Gb/s SSD drives are built for the most grueling, high-threat and unpredictable environments. Of particular interest, however, is the fact that this SSD is one of the few not equipped with a SandForce, Marvell or Sansisk, Samsung or similar controller.
Platter hard drives are slowly being replaced by fast, durable, and reliable flash-based solid-state drives, and manufacturers like Dane-Elec realize the importance of data security. The O-Series brings the multifaceted benefits and uses of SSDs, while being tailored specifically for the general public for seamless integration without the need for configuration.
The O-Series features S.M.A.R.T. enterprise-level data monitoring, advanced wear leveling, two embedded AES-encryption engines (128/256), and powerful SATA 2.0 Silicon Motion SM2244 SSD controllers. The SSDs level at the 285MB/s range for read speeds, and the 275MB/s range for write speeds, with random-access performance of up to 50,000 IOPS.
The Dane-Elec mySSD O-Series is now available for the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) market directly from Dane-Elec, in flavours of 64Gb, 120Gb and 240Gb and are backed by an industry-standard 5-year warranty.
