Corsair has announced the release of their new Performance Pro Series SSDs and are betting that the success of the updated Marvell controller will make this SSD an excellent consumer choice.
The Performance Pro is initially being offered in capacities of 128 and 256GB, with performance as high as 515MB/s read and 440MB/s write with 65,000 IOPS at 4k random write aligned disk access for the 256GB model. The 128GB version is slightly less at 500MB/s read and 340MB/s write with 60,000 IOPS at 4k aligned random write disk access. Each comes with a standard desktop adapter and three year warranty.
The choice of a manufacturer to rely on the 88SS9174 Marvell controller has been only a matter of time after the success that Crucial has demonstrated with their M4 SSD family with new firmware that boosts performance as high as 20%. Both the Crucial M4 and Corsair performance pro have identical controllers.
Pricing is set at $279.99 for the 128GB and $579.99 for the 256GB version and they are now available for purchase at Corsair.
