Axtremex Technology, UK-based manufacturer and global supplier of memory devices, is announcing their new Micro SSD that features a USB 3.0 interface. The lightweight, durable and convenient to use Micro SSD is about 2/3 the size of a standard business card, and achieves sequential read/write speeds of 450 MB/s and 400 MB/s respectively.
The Micro SSD draws its power straight from the USB connection, meaning no power cord or adapter is required. The USB 3.0 Micro SSD is backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, and will be offered in capacities of 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Axtremex is also planning for 512GB and 1TB capacities. Just think about it — 1TB of very fast portable storage in a device smaller than a business card!
Axtremex’s Micro SSD is great for data storage — backup or store content including documents, music,videos, etc. Where the Micro SSD really shines is as a Windows-To-Go boot disk. Windows 8 Enterprise can be installed, enabling the Micro SSD to boot Windows 8 on any PC or MAC. It comes with a “WTG Maker” that allows users to install licensed Windows 8 Professional onto the Micro SSD. It is very easy to set up, and is virtually plug-and-play to use Windows 8 on any computer (or MAC).
