Apacer is announcing their latest gaming-oriented PCIe NVMe SSD, designated as the PT920 COMMANDO. The most immediately compelling aspect of the PT920 is that the shroud is shaped like the trigger guard, sight aperture and ejection port of an assault rife. The housing also enables a convection cooling system to improve heat dissipation.
Apacer is offering the PT920 COMMANDO in 240GB and 480GB capacities, both utilizing the PCI express 3.0 x4 interface and MLC NAND. Both capacities are rated for sequential read speeds of up to 2500MB/s, with sequential writes of up to 860MB/s (240GB) and 1350MB/s (480GB). Random 4K write performance is stated as up to 160,000 IOPS (240GB), or 175,000 IOPS (480GB).
The PT920 COMMANDO SSD features global wear leveling and ECC error correction code of up to 120bit/2KB. It offers end-to-end data protection, and supports NCQ, TRIM, and S.M.A.R.T. drive health and monitoring attributes. Mean time between failures (MTBF) is stated as 2,000,000 hours, and Apacer is backing the PT920 COMMANDO with a three-year limited warranty.
Pricing and availability have not yet been indicated. For more information, please visit the PT920 COMMANDO product page here.
