Pushing The Limits Of SSD Storage at 2.4GB/s

A few months ago someone mentioned that setting up additional RAID configurations was not possible with an OCZ REVO drive installed.  It brought forward an interesting idea that we finally have had a chance to play with as we like to retain SSDs in order to include them in future testing.  This article displays the Gigabyte P67A-UD7 motherboard running 3 RAID 0 configurations, these being the OCZ Revo x2, OCZ Revo and LSI 9260-8i MegaRAID card running 8 x Micron C300 SSDs.

In total, there are 18 SSDs and one hard drive active in the system, two of which are mPCIe cards and one even being a USB 3 SSD.

If you will look closely you will see a LSI 9260-8i with 8 x Micron C300 256GB SSDs, OCZ RevoDrive x2 100GB SSD, OCZ RevoDrive 120GB SSD, Viking Modular SATADIMM 25GB slc SSD, Intel 310 mPCIe SSD, Corsair and a Renice K3VLAR mPCIe 64GB SSD.  Present but not seen as they are tucked away in the Icy Dock multi-bay RAID harness are a OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD, Crucial C300 SATA 3 256GB SSD, Memoright 240 GB SSD, Corsair F90 SSD, a Samsung Spinpoint 1.5TB hard drive and even a SuperTalent SuperCrypt 64GB USB3 SSD.

The unique part that we truly enjoyed was benchmarking the LSI with 8xMicron SSDs being pushed at RAID 0.  The ATTO score below displays a mind boggling 2.4GB/s read and 1.8GB/s write which we couldn’t fathom before seeing it.

Stay tuned in the next few days as we blow the roof off of storage as we know it.  We have some exciting and…well…many might say unbelievable storage testing that we will let you in on.  The SSD Review intends on doing for SSD RAID that of which we haven’t seen before!!
