It wasn’t so long ago that OCZ released the Agility 3 Series of solid state drives in effort to fill the space held by the typical consumer looking for a high performing, value oriented solution for their SSD needs.
OCZ stepped out once again today by announcing release of their new Agility 4 to stand beside the Vertex 4, the V4 being the flagship of the Indilinx Everest 2 controller platform. As was the Agility 3 to the Vertex 3, the Agility 4 will be representative of both performance and value.
The OCZ Agility 4 will be available in capacities of 64, 128, 256 and 512GB and performance is listed at 400MB/s read and 400MB/s write for higher capacities which will be rather interesting to see as OCZ speaks to incompressible performance. Very few enthusiast SSDs have been able to reach the high compressible write performance of 400MB/s much less any of the value oriented SSDS that used asynchronous NAND flash memory as the Agility 3 was. The Agility 4 also boasts a high 85,000 IOPS and three year warranty.
Getting to the meat and gravy, Amazon JUST posted prices for the Agility 3 and they can be found at $149.99, $249.00 and $561 for the 128, 256 and 512GB versions. This becomes an SSD first as the 256GB version is the first release we have seen yet to break the $1/GB price barrier, the others being just about as close as you can get as well!

If you want my opinion, these will be off the shelves faster than they can stock them.
To add to it’s long list of qualities the Agility 4 has an advanced error correction code (ECC) engine, dynamic wear-leveling, auto encryption, and Indilinx Ndurance 2.0 technology that addresses and overcomes specific shortcomings of NAND flash memory to extend flash life well beyond the manufacturers rated program and erase cycle specifications.
Last but not least… Don’t forget to check out our newly revamped publication of The SSD Optimization Guide, this being the world’s most popular SSD tuning resource yet. Over a million readers can’t be wrong!

need to see some benchmark/review before making purchase lol
If I can make a recommendation regarding the SSD reviews……. could you make sure that the top 10 SSDs listed in the PCMark Vantage have been retested at their current firmware rev? I would think some of them have had several firmware revs since their initial testing and placement in the rankings. These revs usually produce performance improvements that may affect rankings.
well agility 4 wont be one of the top ones for sure. usually sandforce drives wins handsdown due to most window files and programs are compressible, hence give sandforce quite a bit advantage due to 4k increase when its compressible.
tbh, vertex 4 and other samsung/marvel ssds, those are probably best for transfering files, and doing multimedia work.
