Plextor Releases M5 Pro Xtreme SSD In The US Also Aiming At Enterprise

Plextor has unleashed the Marvell 88SS9187 enterprise-grade controller based M5 Pro Xtreme SSD in the United States.  This new revision of the M5 Pro promises random read and random write performance of 100,000/88,000 IOPS (meaning it is FAST), 256 bit AES encryption (meaning your data is safe IF you decide to make use of this feature), a MTBF of 2.4 million hours (meaning very high reliability due to rigorous testing), and a 5 year warranty.

Plextor M5P Extreme

Plextor is confident enough to recommend the use of this high-end SSD in an enterprise environment by stating,  ”This makes the M5 Pro suitable for use in a heavy workstation, server role, or Raid 0 configuration.”  Rounding out the M5 Pro Xtreme is “True Speed” which is enhanced garbage collection and keeps your SSD running well over the long-term and “Data Safe” which means that the data is passed through additional error correction routines making sure your data is written and read properly.

The 256GB variation of the M5 Pro Xtreme is currently available at Newegg.com for $229.99 with FREE SHIPPING.  The 128GB and 512GB capacities will also be available, but there is no time frame at the moment.
