I'm preaty good at tweeking a system in 1998 when I started my dj company I was an early adapter to digital DJing I acutaly used napster when it was free I'm preaty good at tweeking my system some quick thoughts

the retail package was sealed but it had a small bludge I was really worried called new egg told them I said I thought it might be the drive adapter they said open it and look thankfully that was what it was he made a note of it

updateing firmware I thought that I could take the blue ray player out because it is sata and stick the drive in well wrong they do make an adapter for that bay but i'm not sure if the blue ray player is sata2 or if it is a different connector type or if it is sata 1

ever try to do a fresh os install use to take 45 minutes to an hour on platters depending on the interface not any more formatted which took less than 5 minutes and then started the windows 7 install I started at 11:21 my new dog started to bark to go out about 2 minutes latter took him for a walk it's realy cold so he did not want to stay out long (me either) got back and looked at the clock 11:36 done really not sure how long it took when I left it said 0% so we will have to assume it took under 16 minutes filled out the window questions you know name the computer ect ran first windows experance scores

    processor 7.1

    memory 7.4

    graphics 1.0

    gamming graphics 1.0

    primary Hard disk 7.8

for a milla second which is longer than the seak time of the drive 0.1 MS second I thought oh no conflict because i have a nvida 425m 1gb video thats 3d with physX then I rememberd I have to load video drivers and update every thing

    new scores with nvida drivers

    processor 7.1

    memory 7.4

    graphics 6.6

    gamming graphics 6.6

    primary Hard disk 7.8

now that's much more like it I still have to install all the drivers beacuse I just have windows 7 drivers and I think my scores will even go up a little because on the platter drive my graphics gamming graphics were 6.5 I would also not be suprised if some of the other score's whent up slighty

only down point is 120gb drive shows as 109gb but I can live with that have a lot more latter

here do this for fun....lets see how your drive looks!

elevate an cmd prompt to admin status
    type in:
    winsat disk

this runs a more detailed WEI assessment just like it did for your results above, but focuses on the disk performance. awesome stuff! if you need help with how to do it i will give you more detailed instructions. you get good info with this! by far the best "bench" out there and its built right into windows

I had the Vertex 60GB, upgraded my 4 yr old desktop - amazing increase in performance for both Windows and Solaris - although limited by the older hardware (SATA 1) still cut boot times in half and application launch and response times were much faster.
