    Vertex 3 in RAID-0

    I'm just curious -- the benchmarking here is comparing a bare-bones stand-alone Vertex 3 240GB SATA-3 SSD to previous SATA-2 models, running in RAID-0.

I was wondering what 2 or 3 Vertex 3's in RAID 0 is capable of? No one seems to have tested that scenario (yet). I'm waiting on NewEgg to provide availability of the 240-GB drives. I just purchased a good RAID Controller (Adaptec 6805 - replacing my 5805) and will probably add 2 or 3 Vertex 3's and see what that does utilizing a dedicated SATA-III RAID Controller. If these SSD's are so totally awesome on their own (as benchmarked here), I can just imagine what I'll see in RAID-0. Maybe something along the lines of a decent IO-Fusion card? Check out this video! (dream on friend. . . )

What a wall of 4,500 video streams looks like - Computerworld Blogs (what this really looks like to me is a lot of $$$$$

Notwithstanding 4500 + simultaneousness video streams, has anyone tested these Vertex 3's in RAID-0?

As well, we have the LSI 9265 and Areca and wil be doing similar once we can get the drives. They are too new for the companies to send out for evaluation en mass however. Oh, you may also notice that two of those RAID configs were actually SATA 3 drives raided.

Awesome! I'll be really interested in seeing how well these Vertex 3's benchmark on both the Adaptec 6805 VS LSI MegaRAID Internal SAS 9265-8i 6Gb. For me, it came down to value vs. price (the LSI was just too rich for my blood as I'm using my card on a stand-alone, workstation-class machine only) -- however, I really admire the LSI's 1-GB DDR-III cache memory! That's why its more $$$ over the Adaptec 6805 which "only" comes with 512MB cache. I'll probably add three (3) Vertex 3's - 240GB (again price getting way up there!) -- and see where that takes me. Thanks for the updates!

    Hello bamer:

Could you tell me how adaptec 5805 performs? Do you have some experience to compare with another great card? I'm on eye in 6805 but may be will wait...
    Regards

There are significant CPU dual core IOP348 vs dual core PMC Sierra performance increased?

May be I will considerer Adaptec Series 6 because it's more stock acessible here in Portugal instead of LSI or Areca...
Would like to know the 4k random real performance of adaptec 6405...
Seems older 5405 has a good reputation
