    Intel Core i7-3820 Quad-Core CPU Review – Discussion Thread

    Intel has just recently released the Sandy Bridge E i7-3820 to the retailers, even though reviews of the product were popping up left and right well over a month ago.We received our sample a bit later than most, so its actually been somewhat lucky for us as our testing and release is right along with the public availability of the i7-3820. Our test motherboard also has had a recent UEFI revision that reveals much better auto-overclocking profiles for the 3820. That extra few weeks of maturity has helped us achieve some great overclocking results to demonstrate the performance of the overclocked processor, as we have been able to attain a great 5.0 GHz overclock for testing!

    thanks, there was a bit of a fiasco actually and i dropped my 'comparison' chip (the 3930K), damaging it, and some tests did not get ran on that chip in time for release of the article. These tests ( BapCo SYSMark 2012, 3dsMax, 7zip and winrar, true crypt) will be included in the next tests.

    here is the details;

    3930K DISASTER

    whats funny too is that these pics didnt make it into the review either, i couldnt bear to put that bent chip on there! i did photoshop the bent corner out, and make it straight, but was too heartbroken once i seen it 'whole' again to post it in the review.

    Another interesting, and professional review Compumeister!

    Nice photos as well. I know how frustrating it can be at times getting very high quality tight shots.
